Reforming South Carolina

Read Governor Sanford's op-ed on the stimulus

Carolinians for Reform is a non-profit corporation formed to raise awareness and educate the public on a number of issues critical to making South Carolina more competitive in today’s global economy. These efforts center on modernizing our state government’s structure because we believe the lynchpin to making our government more accountable, more transparent and more efficient lies in structural change.

Where is the problem

Our governmental structure costs more than 135 percent the US average, and those costs must be borne by the businesses and individuals of this state. People across our state know at a gut level that our system is outdated, but until they can articulate what they want changed, it is very difficult to change governmental structure in Columbia. In this regard, Carolinians for Reform is simply about educating people at a grass roots level so they can better make their voices heard in efforts to modernize state government.
